On Friday, April 17, 2009 the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department conducted operation “Last Call”. During the operation Texarkana Arkansas Police conducted a high profile inspection of facilities, documentation, and clientele in private clubs, and game establishments to ensure they are conforming of State Law and City Ordinances within Texarkana, Arkansas.
The purpose of this operation was threefold. First, officers checked all necessary licenses and permits. Secondly, officers ensured there were no minors in the establishments; this is due to the increase of alcohol related vehicle fatalities, including those under the legal drinking age, which we have seen in our jurisdiction. Lastly, officers made sure that intoxicated persons were no longer being served alcohol by the establishments.
Chief Robert Harrison stated, “The operation was conducted by officers from the criminal investigation division, special operations, and services division. Because the safety of our citizens is the number one priority, the patrol division continued to answer calls within the city and did not participate in this operation.”
“The operation was a huge success. Approximately 94 violations were observed and 94 citations were issued”, stated by Chief Harrison.
