Re: Fatality Accident

At approximately 4:00pm, Tuesday April 15, 2009, officers responded to a major accident on HWY 82, at the intersection of Mosley Road. Upon arrival to the scene, officers determined that silver Toyota Camery, crossed over into oncoming traffic, attempting to avoid rear ending a vehicle that was stopped in the roadway waiting to make a left turn onto south Mosley Road. In doing this, the Toyota struck a blue Ford pickup truck head on. The occupants of the Toyota were identified as operator, Earl Albritton, W/M 25yoa and two small children ages three and five all of Fouke, Arkasnas. The occupant of the Ford truck was identified as Heather Gerrald, W/F 18yoa, of Texarkana, Arkansas. All four individuals were immediately transported to Wadley Hospital with very serious injuries.

The media should contact Wadley Hospital for any medical information concerning the medical status of those individuals currently receiving care at the hospital. I regret to report one of the children died as a result of injuries sustained from the accident.

All cases that result in the death of an occupant as a result of a traffic accident are forwarded to the criminal investigation division for further investigation. The traffic accident investigation is still in progress. The completed file with the traffic accident investigation and criminal investigation division investigation are then forwarded to the prosecutor office for further review.
