Throughout the 2008 holiday season, the Texarkana Arkansas Police department was committed to the safety of all citizens of Texarkana Arkansas. Holiday patrols were established throughout the cities businesses and convenience stores to deter crime during such a busy season. Because of the Officer’s efforts, and the awareness of the citizens of the city, no reports of robbery were made at any of the businesses in the city.
From December 18th – January 3rd, 2009, additional DWI units and sobriety checkpoints were conducted, totaling over 286 man hours, which resulted in 37 DWI arrests alone. During the same time period, Officers made 26 felony arrests for a variety of crimes committed.
Chief Harrison stated, “We will continue to provide the best service possible to the citizens of Texarkana Arkansas, and appreciate all of the support provided from the community in making a safe 2008 holiday season.”
