On August 10th, 2008 at approximately 1:44 PM Texarkana Texas police officers responded a property damage complaint where they determined a person or persons had placed an explosive device inside a mail box and detonated it. On August 11th, 2008, at 01:00 AM, a similar incident occurred in Texarkana Arkansas where officers responded to what was first believed to be a shotgun having been fired. It was later determined that another mailbox had been damaged from some type of explosive device. Evidence was collected from both scenes and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents along with the U.S. Postal Inspector are investigating this incident along with investigators from both local police agencies. It has been determined that both devises were similar in nature and both incidents are related. Police do have leads pending in the case.
No one was injured in these incidents.
Whether these incidents were pranks or deliberate actions, our departments take them very seriously and charges will be filed on anyone identified as suspects in either case.
