On 07/20/08 at 5:30 A.M, Texarkana Arkansas Police Officer Zachary White responded to 711 East Street, All Care Pharmacy, in reference to a burglary in progress. A witness called 911 and reported someone was stealing the copper coil from the air conditioner unit outside the business. The witness gave a clothing description of the suspect and direction of travel to Officer White, who quickly located the suspect in the parking lot of Miller’s IGA, on East Street. The suspect was identified as Willie Grady, B/M 53 Y.O.A. Grady was pushing a shopping cart containing a copper coil that was later determined to be from the A/C unit behind All Care Pharmacy. Grady was then arrested for felony theft of property and criminal mischief. Upon further investigation, Detective Paul Nall later charged Grady with 10 additional counts of felony theft of property, after Grady confessed to committing other A/C copper coil thefts around the college hill area. In all eleven cases the A/C units were dissembled and the copper coil was removed in an identical manner. The investigation is still ongoing and other charges and arrests are expected.
