The Texarkana Arkansas Police Dept. is currently investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning on April 27, 2008. Officer Lester Colley of the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department was at 2324 North State Line Avenue when a witness ran up to him and advised a person had been shot. Officer Colley located the victim, Jarius Daniels, B/M, 21 YOA, who was being assisted out of the back seat of a vehicle. Life Net responded and transported Daniels to Wadley hospital for medical attention. Witnesses who were in the vehicle with Daniels advised while travelling southbound on North State Line Avenue they observed an unknown vehicle following close behind them. The driver of the vehicle turned Eastbound on East 22nd street in attempt to get away from the unknown vehicle. At the intersection of Laurel Street and East 22nd Street, the occupants of the vehicle heard and observed gunshots coming from the same unknown vehicle that was following them earlier. Occupants from the vehicle said after the gunfire, Daniels said he had been shot while in the back seat. The driver of the vehicle then traveled to 2324 North State Line Avenue where they received police assistance.
Detectives are currently going over witness statements and attempting to gather suspect information. It is undetermined, at this time, the connection between the victims and suspects.
