9 Arrests Made From Internet Videos of Fighting Juveniles

Recently, the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department received information of students from the Fouke and Texarkana Arkansas School district fighting in public places, along with posting video of the fights on the “YouTube” website. Texarkana Arkansas Police Detectives, Les Hunter and Paul Nall worked with School Resource Officer, Scott Meagason in the investigation. Detectives were able to identify 8 juveniles and one adult suspect from the videos which were posted on the website. It was determined during the investigation that the fighting incidents occurred at Ed Worrell Park and in an apartment complex that is located in Texarkana Arkansas. On this date, 9 arrest warrants were signed by Judge Griffin for the charge of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Three of the juvenile suspects, one Arkansas High and two Fouke students, turned themselves in at the bi-state jail shortly after the warrants were issued. Detectives located 3 juveniles and one adult suspect at Arkansas High School around noon today. The adult suspect, Alen Chambers, W/M 09/02/89, was transported to the Bi-State jail. All of the juveniles arrested were transported to the Miller County Juvenile Detention Center.

Detective Les Hunter advised the fights emulated the MMA, mixed martial arts fighting, and was not a school rivalry. The videos of the fights are no longer available and have been removed from the website by the original user. Two additional arrests are expected and the investigation is ongoing.

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department believes it was absolutely necessary to curtail this type of behavior in the city to prevent the escalation of violence and potential serious or life threatening injury to the participants.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is encouraged to notify TAPD or Texarkana area CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP.
