On February 16, 2008 at 11:30 P.M, Texarkana Arkansas Police Officers Kevin Heagwood and Corwin Battle responded to Miller’s Crossing Apartments in reference to assisting LifeNet Paramedics with a woman delivering twin babies. Upon arrival, Officers located the mother, Denise Collins, B/F 23 yoa, lying on the floor of the apartment with a baby boy wrapped in a towel next to her. As Officers and Paramedics rendered medical attention to the mother and baby boy, a second child was delivered, but was not breathing. The decision was made to transport the second child to the hospital immediately. While in route to Wadley hospital Officer Battle assisted paramedics in providing oxygen and suctions that resulted in reviving and restoring the baby’s breathing to normal. Officer Heagwood rode in ambulance to assist Collins and the first baby to the hospital as well. Since the incident, Collins and her new twin babies have been released from the hospital and in good condition.
