Dispute Results in Stabbing

On Wednesday, February 13 2008, at 8:30P.M., Officers with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department responded to 2310 Selma Street in reference to a disturbance with weapons. At the scene, Officer John Higginbotham located the victim, Jim Ward, W/M 29 yoa, sitting on the front porch of the residence, with a large amount of blood on his shirt. Life-Net paramedics responded immediately and transported Ward to Wadley hospital for medical attention. Officers learned from Ward, that he and suspect, Timothy Smith, W/M 35 yoa, got into an altercation over an undetermined amount of money in the driveway of the residence. Ward said that during the argument Smith pulled out a large knife and stabbed him in the chest. After the incident occurred, Smith left the scene. The Witness/Resident gave Officers a description of Smith’s vehicle and stated he was possibly in route to Fouke, Arkansas.

Later that evening Smith‘s vehicle was located in Fouke, Arkansas, and he was arrested initially on unrelated charges by the Miller County Sherriff Department. Texarkana Arkansas Police additionally charged Smith with Battery 2nd, a felony.

Ward’s condition is unknown at this time.
