The Texarkana Arkansas Police Dept. is currently accepting applications for potential Police Officers. Applications are available at the Bi-State Justice Center, 100 North State Line Avenue, in the personnel office.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Dept. offers an annual starting salary of $35,370 effective April 1, 2008. A minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of college credit is required of all applicants. A wavier may be granted for applicants with prior law enforcement or military experience. As an incentive to continue your education, our agency has an educational incentive plan in which Officers are paid for their accumulated college credit hours. In addition, Officers are provided with group life and health insurance coverage as well as a retirement plan. Three weeks of paid vacation and twenty days of paid sick leave are earned annually.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Dept. is a progressive agency that offers a variety of career options. After completing a one year probationary period, a new Officer may apply for available openings in the agency’s specialized units. These units include the Criminal Investigation Division, Multi-Agency Narcotics Task Force, SWAT, K-9, Crime Scene, Personnel and Training, School Resource Officer, Special Operations and Intelligence/Crime Analysis. Our Officers are regularly given the opportunity to attend specialized training and professional development courses.
The next Civil Service Exam will be on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 8:00 A.M. The test will be given in the Texarkana Arkansas Police Dept. training room, located on the 1st floor in the Bi-State justice center. Deadline for application to be completed and turned in is Wednesday, April 16, 5:00 P.M.
