The Texarkana Arkansas Police have three subjects in custody after a large disturbance on Martha Street. On Thursday, January 24, 2008 at approximately 2:30 pm, Officers responded to the 1100 block of Martha Street after neighbors reported seeing a B/M carrying a weapon, causing a disturbance in the middle of the street. Officer John Higginbotham and Corporal Lynn Sanders responded to the scene and located a juvenile black male, screaming and cursing, carrying a metal pipe in his hand. Officers immediately arrested the juvenile male. As he was being placed in the patrol unit, a relative, Stephanie Watson, B/F 22 yoa, and boyfriend of Watson, Clylemontezze Mack, B/M 25 yoa, began to yell and curse Officers while standing in the yard of a residence. Officers repeatedly told both Watson and Mack to go inside the residence and calm down, but they refused and continued to cause a public scene while attempting to provoke other neighbors standing outside. Officers then attempted to arrest Mack for the continuing disturbance. When Mack realized he was going to be under arrest he attempted to run into a residence, away from the Officers. Officers chased him and as they were trying to restrain Mack, he began to swing at them with a closed fist. At this time, Watson began to fight the Officers that were trying to restrain Mack. She threw a glass bottle at the Officers, and it struck Officer Higginbotham in the head. After a struggle, both Mack and Watson were restrained and transported to the Bi-State jail.
The juvenile male was transported to the Miller County Juvenile Detention Center where he was charged with Domestic Assault and Disorderly Conduct. Mack and Watson were both charged with Fleeing, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest. Watson was additionally charged with Battery 3rd for hitting Officer Higginbotham with a bottle.
Detectives are still investigating the case at this time to determine what happened prior to Officers arrival.
