Re: Domestic Violence/Kidnapping Arrest

On 10-7-06 at 12:15am Texarkana Arkansas Police officers responded to a report of a possible kidnapping that had occurred in the 3900 block of Jefferson Ave. Upon arrival to the scene officers discovered that the suspect, Lucas Lantell Scott (b/m/26 Texarkana, AR), had reportedly kidnapped a female at gunpoint. The victim was later identified as Lara Jones (w/f/25 Texarkana, AR).

The suspect's vehicle description was given and the vehicle was stopped a short time later on East Street by officer Jeremy Gordon. It was discovered that the victim was driving the vehicle and the suspect, Scott, was in the passenger seat. Officers located a .380 caliber pistol in the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault on a family or household member, theft of a firearm, theft by receiving, and possession of marijuana. He was booked into jail without incident, and no bond has been set at this time.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the suspect was a former boyfriend of the vicitm and that the two have children together.

Officers were told that at 12:00am the victim had been contacted by her step-father regarding the theft of a pistol. The victim believed that her former boyfriend, Scott, may have stolen the pistol and she called him to confront him regarding the theft. When the victim arrived at her parents' home the suspect came from beside the house and forced her back into her car while pointing the stolen pistol at her. She left the scene and drove south on Jefferson Ave. She was able to convince the suspect to let her use the bathroom at a nearby convenience store. While inside the store she was able to phone a friend and tell her to call for help. Officers stopped the vehicle a short time later.

There were no injuries associated with this incident.
