At approximately 1:30am on Sunday morning Texarkana Arkansas Police officers responded to a report of a one vehicle accident on Genoa Road. Upon arrival to the scene officers discovered that a westbound Toyota Camry had left the roadway and struck a tree after failing to negotiate an S-curve in the 3700 block of Genoa Rd. The impact with the tree occurred head on and the majority of the damage was to the drivers side of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, Stephanie Loudermilk (w/f/25yoa Texarkana, AR), was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicles passenger, Robert Loudermilk (w/m/21 Texarkana, AR), was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was released to family members.
Officers on-scene noted evidence of skid marks on the road that indicate that the driver was attempting to stop the vehicle prior to leaving the roadway. It should be noted that the road was dry at the time of this accident. It is unknown at this time what speeds were involved and whether or not alcohol played a part in the accident.
As with all fatality accidents this case will remain under investigation until a toxicology report returns.
