Re: Labor Day Traffic Enforcement

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department wants to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe holiday weekend and to assure them that we will be doing our best to ensure the safety of all.

As part of our commitment to the safety of the citizens of Texarkana, we will once again be on the lookout for those motorists who may be operating vehicles while under the influence of intoxicating substances. Patrol officers with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department will be enforcing the DWI laws with ZERO TOLERANCE for those who are found behind the wheel while under the influence. As a reminder, the legal limit for intoxication in Arkansas is .08% blood alcohol content. A person who is consuming alcohol can rise to this level very quickly. Any motorist who is found to be over the legal limit and has been operating a motor vehicle will be arrested and charged.

We urge anyone who plans to drink over this holiday weekend to not drive or to arrange for a designated driver. It only takes a little planning to ensure that all of us can have a safe and happy holiday weekend.
