Re: Fatality Accident

On 7/22/05 at 3:34pm patrol officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle accident on Trinity Boulevard just west of Sanderson Ln. The first units on scene located a late model white full size Chevrolet pickup that had left the roadway and struck a tree. The truck was 75-100 yards off the roadway on the south side of Trinity Blvd. near the Ramblewood St. intersection. The male driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. He was the only occupant of the truck. His name is not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin. Preliminary witness statements at the scene indicate that just prior to the fatal crash the truck may have been involved in a hit and run accident on Loop 245 near the I-30 overpass. As of the time of this report the second vehicle in the initial accident is believed to be a white Jeep, unknown model. This vehicle also left the scene and at this time there is no other information on this vehicle or it's occupants. Witness statements indicate that the white pickup truck turned west onto Trinity Blvd. and accelerated to a high rate of speed. According to initial on-scene investigation it appears as though the truck failed to negotiate the curve just west of Sanderson Ln. It was at this point that the truck left the south side of the roadway. The accident investigation is ongoing at this time and anyone with any additional information regarding this accident is asked to notify the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.
