Re: South Haven Golf Course Burglary

On 7/21/05 at 1:20am officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Line Ferry Rd. in reference to a report of golf carts being driven down the roadway. Officer Jason Haak (pronounced "hack") arrived on-scene and saw two carts being driven across a yard at the intersection of Line Ferry and Miller streets. As officer Haak got out of his patrol car to make contact, the two drivers and a third passenger of one of the carts fled on foot, abandoning the carts in the yard. After a brief foot chase officer Haak was able to catch two of the subjects who were found to be juveniles. They identified the third subject, also a juvenile, and he was located near his residence a short time later by officer Gabe Overstreet. The carts were identified as the property of South Haven Golf Course. A representative of the golf course arrived at the scene and upon returning to the course it was discovered that the storage building in which the carts had been kept had been burglarized. The two carts that had been taken had sustained damage to the ignition switches and had been "hotwired". Total damage to the carts is expected to be $400.00. The three juveniles were arrested and charged with burglary and were transported to the Miller County JDC facility.
