Re: Man Arrested for Kidnapping and Rape, Following Domestic Violence.

On Friday 04/08/05, 40 year-old Derrick Wayne Patton of Texarkana Arkansas was arrested at his home on charges of Kidnapping and Rape following an investigation of a Domestic Violence case that was reported on Monday the 4th April 2005.

According to reports Patton had held a 24 year-old female victim captive for two days while he beat, strangled, and raped her. The victim suffered from a fractured nose, several minor knife cuts, bruising and swelling of the face, and other minor injuries. Patton allegedly used a belt and knife during the attacks. Patton reportedly strangled the victim with a belt and threatened her with a knife. Patton also beat the victim with a closed fist while sexually assaulting her during the two-day period.

Patton and the victim had been separated for a month following a previous domestic assault. The victim reported a previous domestic assault and misdemeanor domestic violence warrants were issued. All of the warrants were served when Patton was arrested on 04/08/05.

Three children shared by the couple, ages one, two and three were reportedly in the house during the attacks. They were not physically harmed.

The victim was able to get help when she was permitted to go to work on Monday. Co-workers transported the victim to a local hospital and called the police.
