18 year-old Eric Dewayne Bruce and Aaron Douglas Staggs along with two 17 year-old white male juveniles from Texarkana Arkansas were arrested and charged with one felony count of Breaking and Entering and Theft by Receiving, following an early morning traffic stop and investigation.
At 3:45am this morning (03/24/05) Patrolman Gabe Overstreet spotted the vehicle the young men were traveling in parked alongside the road on Sanderson Lane. As Officer Overstreet approached the vehicle the driver quickly sped away. Officer Overstreet was able to follow the vehicle and stop it in the 2300 block of Arkansas Boulevard. Upon approaching the vehicle and contacting the driver Officer Overstreet noticed several pieces of car stereo equipment in plain view. An ensuing investigation revealed that the stereo equipment had just been stolen form a car parked in the area the vehicle was seen leaving. Some of the stolen property has already been returned to the owner.
Other physical evidence and statements also indicate that the four men were involved in at least two other car burglaries during the night and early morning hours. These cases are currently being investigated.
Eric Bruce and Aaron Staggs are being held in the Bi-State. No bond has been set. The two juveniles are being held at JDC awaiting a detention hearing.
