Re: Arrest made in Jay Hackett Shooting

On 02/09/05 at 4:30pm deputies of the Bowie County Sheriffs Office working with Texarkana Arkansas Detectives, arrested 25 year-old Kyle David Curtis at his home in New Boston for the January 21st shooting of 38 year-old Jay Hackett of Fulton Arkansas.

On January the 21st at 12:35am Texarkana Arkansas Officers received a report that a man had been shot while traveling east bound on I-30 between Stateline and Jefferson Streets. According to reports the victim; Jay Hackett had been shot while driving home from a club on the Texas side of the Stateline. While detectives have not confirmed a motive it appears that “Road Rage” could have been a factor in the shooting. The victim suffered wounds to his right arm and neck from a single gunshot.

Detective continue to investigate the case and no bond as been set at this time. Kyle David Curtis has been charged with one felony count of Battery 1st and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.
