Texarkana, Arkansas Police arrested a 21-year-old man last night on a charge of Capital Murder stemming from an August 25th incident.
Detectives Ed Chattaway and Lonnie Booker arrested 21-year-old Eric Jerome Flowers (B/M) of Texarkana, Arkansas on one count of Capital Murder last night. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred at approximately 11:28pm on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 near the intersection of South Mosely Road and Hwy. 82 in Texarkana. 71-Year-old Obbie Watson of Texarkana, Arkansas was found inside his pickup after it traveled down an embankment on South Mosely Road. What initially appeared to be a fatality motor vehicle accident became a Homicide Investigation shortly after the arrival of officers.
Watson was found to have been shot while in the cab of his pickup. Robbery is believed to have been the motive for the killing.
The arrest is the result of an intensive investigation that ran the course of 14 days following the murder. Detectives will continue to conduct follow up interviews, and analysis at the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory is being conducted on evidence recovered over the past 2 weeks.
Flowers is currently being held without bond in the Texarkana, Arkansas City Jail.
Capital Murder carries a maximum penalty of Death if convicted.
