Re: Lose Pit Bull Dogs Leads to Owners Arrest

A resident in the 1300 block of Hilltop called Patrol officers for help after she was chased into her house by a vicious dog. Officer Chris Rankin arrived and found himself faced with a similar situation with not one but two pit bull dogs forcing him back to his car. Officer Rankin retreated to a safe location while observing the animals and called for the assistance Animal Control Officers. Animal Control Officer Diana Slider arrived and was able to catch one of the bulldogs quickly. In the course of catching the first dog a third pit bull dog appeared. The second dog and this third dog proved to be more aggressive. While preparing to tranquilize the remaining dogs the owner of the dogs 29 year-old Kristi Harris of Texarkana Arkansas came out of her house. The owner was able to collect the dogs and officers discovered that there were in fact five pit bull dogs at her residence. Harris had not registered or given any of the dogs the required Rabies Vaccinations. Harris was arrested and issued five citations for rabies shots and five for tickets for failing to obtain dog tags for the dogs. She was also issued three citations for failing to confine her dogs.
