On Thursday afternoon officers with the Decatur Alabama Police Department acting on information obtained from weeks of extensive investigations by the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department were able to apprehend Levester Gillard on a warrant of Kidnapping and Rape.
Texarkana, Arkansas Police has been conducting an investigation into the abduction of a 13 year-old Texarkana girl since the early morning hours of May 3rd. The investigation led to the issuance of arrest warrants for 34 year-old Levester Gillard of Nashville, Arkansas. Warrants for Kidnapping and Rape were issued on 05/06/04 following the execution of a search warrant in Howard County. The search for Gillard had continued since that time.
Members of the Texarkana Arkansas Criminal Investigation Division will travel to Alabama on Monday and are expected to return with Gillard on Tuesday 06/15/04. Gillard is currently being held in the Morgan County Jail in Decatur Al.
Kidnapping and Rape are considered among the most serious of crimes and are classified as Y felonies, the highest felony classification of Arkansas State Law. Each class Y felonies carry a maximum sentence of 10 to 40 years or life in prison and or a fine not to exceed 15,000.
