Re: Attempted Suicide Ends with a Life Saved, A04-3862

At 11:25am today officers with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department were dispatched to the East St. viaduct/ Hwy 71 overpass where a white male was threatening to jump off the bridge. Officer Jeff Clark was the first to arrive. Officer Clark approached and engaged the 24 year-old Fouke Arkansas man in conversation. According to reports the man stated that he did not wish to live and intended to jump off the bridge. As the man hung over the bridge, Officer Clark got close enough to the man to grab him and pull him to safety. The man was unharmed and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Police later learned that the man had been missing from the Fouke area for a week. Family members had not alerted the police that the man had been missing until this incident.
