Re: Another injustice to the elderly. A04-3530

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department would like to warn our elderly of the continuing threat of individuals approaching them in their home about work. On Tuesday 05/11/04 TAPD Patrolmen answered a call in the 2000 block of Division.

The report indicated that two white males approached an elderly couple at their home. The couple allowed the men into their home while they talked about opening a furniture store on East 9th Street. One of the men distracted the elderly female while the other distracted the elderly male and walked around the couple’s home. The two criminals left driving a late model red pickup. Shortly after the two men left the elderly female discovered that money they had saved up to pay bills, which was in her purse, was missing.

There have been a series of assaults, scams and thefts of the elderly stemming from reported dark skinned white males approaching the elderly at their homes.

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department asks that you be wary of anyone approaching you at home. Legitimate businesses do not use this practice.

If someone approaches you at your home about work or similar reasons, call 911. Do your best to get the license number of the vehicle they are in and give good description to officers.
