Re: Suspected Hotel Robber In Custody

On Monday 05/10/04 at 8:00pm an unknown assailant robbed the Comfort Inn 5105 N. Stateline at gunpoint. This follows a series of robberies that had occurred in January and February on both sides of Stateline. Two robberies took place on either side of the state lines in the same night.

Officers with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department immediately began to patrol hotels in the Stateline area. A small teal colored vehicle was reportedly seen during the last robbery and TAPD Patrolman observed a similar vehicle turn into the parking lot of the County Host Inn off Realty road. When the driver of this vehicle saw a patrol car enter the parking area of the Inn he drove away on Realty. Patrol Officers followed and initiated a traffic stop. Upon further investigation officers located clothing described in previous robberies, gloves, cash and a handgun.

Officers arrested 25 year-old Henry Hamburg of Texarkana Arkansas at the scene for Carrying a Weapon and since that time detectives have linked Hamburg to the hotel robberies. Warrants for Aggravated Robbery are pending. The robberies occurred on 01/28/04 and 02/03/04 at the Hampton Inn, 02/20/04 at the Quality Inn, and three hotel robberies in Texarkana Texas.
