On Thursday the 4th of April 2004 a 75 year-old female had retuned to her home in the 3100 block of Hickory after church services had ended. When she opened the front door and walked into her home she observed a black male standing in her living room. She had never seen the stranger before and she quickly realized that the man was burglarizing her home. The man took the victims purse and cell phone away from her. He also pulled all the telephone cords out of the walls before he told her a certain time to remain in the house as he fled the scene on foot. The victim was not harmed.
Texarkana Arkansas Detective believe that this same man is responsible for at least six other burglaries which have occurred since March the 12th in the Northern and Central areas of Texarkana Arkansas. Most of the burglaries have occurred near Stateline and all of them have been during the daylight hours.
The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, 5’08” to 5’11” with a medium to thin build. He was last seen wearing gray jogging pants, a gray shirt with the letters “BASEBALL” written in the color blue across the front, and a black shiny stocking cap or “doo-rag.”
While only one burglar was seen by a victim during this incident detective have not ruled out the fact that more may be involved. In most of the cases the suspect(s) has simply walked into homes through unlocked doors or kicked the doors in on homes to gain entry.
The Texarkana Arkansas Criminal Investigation Division and Special Operations Unit have been diverting manpower to actively patrol the areas of the burglaries and other associated areas. Marked and unmarked units along with plain clothed police officers have been utilized in efforts to stop and catch the person or persons responsible for these crimes.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is asking for your help. If you are anyone you know as information about these crimes or the identity of this man please call the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department at 903-798-3130 or Crime Stoppers at 903-793-7867 (STOP).
