On May 1st, 2015, after a lengthy undercover investigation, the Bi-State Narcotics Task force, along with members of the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and the Miller County Sheriff's Office conducted a search warrant at a residence on Union Road for Illegal Gambling. This investigation began after the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department received numerous complaints about possible illegal activity occurring at the residence. Investigators have been working with 8th Judicial District South Prosecuting Attorney Stephanie Black on this case.
The search warrant resulted in the arrest of Helen Swint, W/F 77yoa, Martha George, W/F 72yoa, and Betty Swint, W/F 51 yoa. All arrested and charged with running a Gambling House, a Class D felony.
Several gaming machines along with an undisclosed amount of cash were additionally seized.
The gaming machines seized, commonly referred to as "8-Liners", were reportedly set up to take cash deposits into the machine and eventually the player would be able to cash out any winnings from those operating the house. This violates Arkansas laws on gambling along with several other City Ordinances. Operating a gaming house is a felony under state law.
Any reports of gaming houses operating within the City of Texarkana, Arkansas or within Miller County will be investigated and if discovered, those responsible will be arrested and charged.
Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is urged to contact Texarkana Arkansas Police at 903-798-3154 or the Texarkana area CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP.
