The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department recently conducted two DWI Checkpoints during the month of August. Both DWI Checkpoints were affiliated with the National Labor Day DWI mobilization campaign and served as an effort to identify violators of the Arkansas Laws that govern impaired driving.
Both DWI Checkpoints conducted resulted in the arrest of several violators. The charges for those arrested included 4 for DWI, 5 for driving while license suspended, 1 warrants served, as well as numerous other warnings given for vehicle equipment violations.
DWI Checkpoints will continue at various locations around the city throughout the remainder of the year in an effort to combat drunk driving and to encourage voluntary compliance with traffic laws.
DWI Checkpoints are paid for by our Community Traffic Safety/DWI Enforcement Grant, which is administered through the Arkansas Highway Safety Office. It has provided additional funding to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department since 1991.
