On Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 10:15am, officers responded to the 400 block of Hickory Street, in reference to a 911 call of a found device. Upon arrival officers located a suspicious device resembling a hand grenade located in the parking lot of the business. The scene was secured by police until the Barksdale Air Force Base Civil Engineer Squadron arrived on scene. The device was collected by the Barksdale unit and transported to a safe location where a controlled explosion rendered it safe. While the device is believed to have been live it was not a fragmentation grenade, it was a training grenade believed to have malfunctioned. It is unknown who placed the device in the parking lot.
