The Texarkana Arkansas Police will be out in full force over the Memorial Day weekend enforcing the traffic laws as needed to ensure the safety of the motoring public. In addition to the normal violations encountered, officers will have a keen eye out for those drivers under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants and will be strictly enforcing the seat belt laws.
We encourage all citizens of Texarkana to drive safely and responsibly. As a reminder, the legal alcohol limit in Arkansas .08 and as always, the driving while intoxicated laws are strictly enforced by the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.
Additionally, the use of seat belts is not only encouraged but required by Arkansas state laws. Motorists wearing seatbelts have a higher survivability rate than motorists that do not when involved in a traffic accident. Also, the use of child safety seats for those under the age of 6 or 60 lbs. is required by law for children riding in vehicles being operated on the roadways of Arkansas. These laws are strictly enforced by members of this department.
We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend and encourage you to drive to arrive safely at whatever your destination may be.
