Police Chief Robert Harrison and City Manager Harold Boldt are constantly looking for alternative revenue sources to off-set the cost of providing high quality law enforcement services to the citizens of Texarkana, Arkansas that we serve with minimal impact on the City budget and no increase in local taxes during these tough economic times.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department recently received a community traffic safety grant in the amount of $163,000 dollars for DWI traffic enforcement. This is a federal grant in the amount of $81,500 with $81,500 in local “in kind” matching funds. This grant is one of the agencies longest running grants with its first pilot project received in 1991. This funding comes from the National Highway Traffic Administration (NTSHA) though the Arkansas Highway Traffic Administration administered by the Arkansas State Police Alcohol Safety Program.
During the 2012 community traffic safety grant cycle 192 DWI/DUI arrests were made by TAPD in Texarkana, Arkansas.
