On June 1, 2012 at approximately 10:00pm, Texarkana Arkansas Police Officers responded to 4716 County Avenue, Chapel Ridge Apartments, in reference to a 911 call of shots fired. Upon arrival to the scene, officers located an 11 year old juvenile male with a gunshot wound to his leg. The juvenile victim was transported to St. Michaels Hospital to receive medical attention for non-life threatening injuries.
As the investigation unfolded it was determined that a vehicle occupied by several juveniles entered into the apartment complex and began shooting from the moving vehicle. One of the fired rounds struck the juvenile victim. No other injuries were reported. The investigation continued by Detective Tom Briggs, who later identified and arrested 2 juvenile males. Both juveniles, 17yoa and of Texarkana, Texas, were charged with Battery 2nd and Unlawful Discharge of a Weapon.
This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
