The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is once again participating in the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP).
The program is possible through a grant from the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration and the Arkansas Highway Safety Office totaling $80,000.
The grant will help pay overtime costs for Texarkana Arkansas Officers to enforce laws and cite people for traffic violations including seat belt usage, child restraint violations, speeding, and DWI/DUI enforcement.
The police department says more police officers will patrol the city and participate in law enforcement projects such as National and State Mobilizations throughout the year. They say they will also participate in other public education and information activities in the local community.
