On Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 5:30pm to 9:00pm, citizens in neighborhoods across Texarkana, Arkansas will be turning their lights on and getting together with friends and neighbors for an evening outside to celebrate the 28th Annual NATIONAL NIGHT OUT.
National Night Out is an opportunity for police officers to meet with citizens in the community and discuss ways to heighten crime awareness and most importantly listen to citizen concerns about crime issues in their specific neighborhood. The fire department, public works, and city administrative staff will be meeting citizens by attending the block parties on that night. The National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and community partnerships.
Representatives from the Police Department, Fire Department, and City Hall will start our visits this year at approximately 5:30pm. Well be available for questions and you can share your concerns about police services in your neighborhood. Currently 18 block parties are scheduled for the upcoming event. If you would like to register a party please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 903-798-3187. The last day to register is Friday, September 30th.
