The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department conducted a DWI Checkpoint during the night of Friday, August 26, 2011, from the hours of 10:00pm until 2:00 am. This DWI Checkpoint was affiliated with the National Labor Day DWI mobilization campaign and served as an effort to identify violators of the Arkansas Laws that govern impaired driving.
The DWI Checkpoint was conducted in the 3100 block of E. 9th Street (U.S. Hwy 82 East) and resulted in the arrest of several violators. The charges for those arrested included a felony warrant served, Reckless Driving and Fleeing, as well as numerous other citations for violations of the law.
DWI Checkpoints will continue at various locations around the city throughout the remainder of the summer months in an effort to combat drunk driving and to encourage voluntary compliance with traffic laws.
