On Tuesday July 6, 2010, at 10:45am officers responded to a drive by shooting at Carver Courts. While en-route to the initial call at Carver Courts officers received a second call of a drive by shooting in the 500 block of Cleveland. Witnesses at Carver Courts stated that the suspects drove by in a white four door car and shot at an apartment several times. Witnesses stated that the suspects then turned around in the complex and came back and shot several more times. Victims from the drive by shooting in the 500 block of Cleveland advised the suspects were traveling down Cleveland Street firing a small handgun. The suspects drove by the victims residence and turned around and came back. The passenger exited the vehicle with the gun and kicked in the door of the residence. The resident of the house recognized the shooter and was able to provide officers with a name and the license plate number of the vehicle.
Within minutes of the incident, Sgt. Billy Jones located both suspects at an apartment complex on E.18th Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Patrick West, B/M 18 years old, who was arrested and charged with six counts of terroristic act and Criminal Attempt-Burglary. The shooter, a juvenile male, was also charged with six counts of Terroristic Act and Criminal Attempt-Burglary. During the investigation two weapons were recovered that were possibly used in the shootings. Detectives will be seeking adult certification on the juvenile for these crimes. No injuries were reported from either shooting incidents.
