The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is deeply saddened to report the loss of one of our own. K-9 “Bruno” passed away early Sunday morning from natural causes. He was 10 years old.
Bruno began his service with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department in October of 2003, where he was assigned as a patrol K-9, who proved to be a great asset in tracking suspects, clearing buildings, and conducting article searches. Throughout his tenure with the department, Bruno excelled in the area of narcotics detection and was responsible for numerous narcotics seizures. In one year alone, Bruno, along with partner Officer Kevin Bounds, seized $280,000.00 worth of marijuana.
In February of 2010, Bruno retired due to medical issues. He lived with his family, Kevin, Nicole, Kaleb, and Ethan Bounds, until his time of passing.
Bruno held a notable career and proved himself not only a valuable asset to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, but also as a trusted companion to his handler. Bruno will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at East Memorial Gardens on Friday June 17th at 3:00pm. This service is held in a special area near the front of the gardens that has been designated only for police K-9's. The ceremony is open to the public as we all pay tribute to Bruno’s service with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.
