Re: Fatality Pedestrian Accident

On Thursday, April 7th 2011, at 9:10pm, officers responded to the 4900 block of HWY 67/ East Broad Street to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived they located a 26 year old white female lying in the roadway. The investigation revealed the female was standing in the roadway when a vehicle struck her. The driver of the vehicle advised officers that he attempted to avoid the female but did not see her in the roadway until seconds before she was struck.

The female, later identified as Holly Smith, of Hope, Arkansas was pronounced dead on the scene by Coroner Eddie Hawkins. As standard procedure a blood sample was taken from both Smith and the driver of the vehicle for further testing. This investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released when available.
