RE: Home Invasion

At approximately 02:54 this morning officers discovered a w/m suspect committing a break-in in the 3200 block of Beech Street. When confronted the suspect sped away in a red Chevrolet truck loaded with stolen property. After a short pursuit the suspect fled on foot from his vehicle in the area of E. 35th and County Ave. Officers recognized the suspect as Travis McRae w/m 45 YOA from previous contact with him. They set up a perimeter and began searching the area on foot.

At approximately 03:52 officers responded to the report of a home invasion in the 1500 block of E 48th Street. On arrival officers found that the w/m suspect had entered the residence through a window then attempted to sexually assault a fourteen year old female resident. An adult male relative awakened by sounds of the attack confronted the suspect. The suspect began assaulting the relative who was able to fight him off and get the suspect out of the house. The suspect was last seen running on E. 48th Street but his identification was found inside the victim’s residence identifying him as Travis McRae. Responding officers set up a perimeter and began searching. All available officers, detectives, and a K9 unit were called in to assist in tracking the suspect. The neighborhood search continued for several hours. The victim of the assault was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital.

At approximately 07:45 Miller County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe off of US 67 East just a few miles outside the city limits. A description of the vehicle was given out state wide. Around 09:00 units with the Arkansas State Police began pursuing the suspect in the stolen vehicle near Prescott, AR. The suspect eventually ran from the vehicle on foot. At the time of this release the suspect is still being sought. Felony warrants are currently outstanding for sexual indecency with a child and residential burglary. It should be noted that McRae was a law enforcement officer in the early nineties and is considered dangerous. He should not be approached by the general public. Anyone spotting the suspect should contact 911. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect or information related to this case should contact Det.
