On Wednesday, January 6, 2010 just after 10:45pm, Texarkana Arkansas Police responded to Fox Creek apartments in reference to a stabbing call. When Officers arrived on scene they located two victims, Kristin Smith, W/F 30 yoa, and Smith’s 13 year old daughter inside the apartment, both bleeding from apparent stab wounds. Both women were transported to St. Michael’s hospital for medical treatment.
It was determined from the investigation that the suspect, James Booker, B/M 32yoa, of Ashdown, Arkansas was visiting Smith inside her apartment. An altercation occurred, which resulted in Smith being stabbed in the chest and her daughter being stabbed in the shoulder. Witnesses watched as Booker fled the scene.
Detectives worked diligently, chasing leads and conducting interviews to locate Booker as quickly as possible. Less than 24 hours after this violent crime occurred, Booker was located in Ashdown, Arkansas with the assistance of the Ashdown Police Department. Detectives Sgt. Bobby Jordan and Jeff Gladden arrested and transported Booker to the bi-state Thursday evening.
Booker is currently facing two counts of felony 1st degree battery and bond has been set at $50,000 dollars.
