The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department has recently received several reports of property theft from local residents who were having garage sales, or from residents who were selling their homes. In each of these cases, the resident was approached by two suspects, a black male and pregnant black female, asking to either use the restroom inside the home or to look at the property saying they were in the market to purchase a home. While inside the house, the suspect would remove items, such as jewelry, from the residence while the other suspect would distract the owners.
On Thursday, January 13th 2011, at 11:00am, Officer Holly Smith responded to a suspicious call in the 2800 block of County Avenue, where a resident was approached by two suspects, a black male and pregnant black female, inquiring information of property for sale. Similar to the previous reports, the female suspect asked to use the restroom inside the residence. The resident said the suspects were acting suspicious and gave Officer Smith a description of the suspect’s vehicle. After a short time, Officer Smith located the suspect’s vehicle in the 1900 block of Beech Street. Officer Smith identified the occupants of the vehicle, Sharda Mullins, 24 B/M of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Teresa Rollins, 37yoa B/F of Hope, Arkansas.
At this time, both Mullins and Rollins have been charged with 8 felony counts of theft of property as well as felony theft of property during a criminal episode. The investigation into this case continues and more charges are forthcoming.
