The Texarkana Arkansas Police Dept. has arrested two suspects in connection to the weekend murder of Jessie James Latham.
On Saturday, December 19, 2009, officers responded to the 700 block of Pinehurst Street in reference to a deceased man laying in the yard of a residence. When Officers arrived they located Mr. Latham, with apparent blunt force trauma to the head and torso, deceased.
Detectives worked late into the evening Saturday and developed information that lead them to believe that the person or persons involved, frequented the immediate area of this described crack “smoking” house. Using evidence found at the scene of the murder, Detectives identified Demetris Jordan, B/M, 39 yoa, of Texarkana as one of the suspects in the murder. The other suspect is a 17 year old juvenile male, also of Texarkana. These suspects were identified early Sunday morning. Interrogations of these two suspects yielded confessions that corroborated evidence found at the scene.
Both Jordan and the juvenile have been arrested and charged with Murder 2nd Degree. Detectives are seeking to certify the juvenile as an adult at which time he will be prosecuted under the same standards and face the same punishments as an adult.
As with any other crime, anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to notify TAPD or Texarkana area CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP.
