A Police Officers Prayer

LORD, I ask for courage
Courage to face and
conquer my own fears...
Courage to take me where others will not go...
I ask for strength
Strength of body to protect others,
and strength of spirit to lead others...
I ask for dedication
Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
to keep it safe...
And please, LORD, through it all,
be at my side...

National Police Prayer

Almighty God, Father of all Mercies, we ask Thy blessing and guidance on all law enforcement officers engaged in the protection of our citizens.

Be with them in their lonely tours of duty while patrolling the busy streets of our cities and the remote areas of our country.

Give them the blessing of your wisdom, to know and do what is right.

Temper their actions with mercy and justice. When their tours are completed and the day is over, guide them safely home to their loved ones.

We ask Thy blessing and eternal rest to all our brothers who have sacrificed their very lives in the performance of their duties.

Give to their loved ones the peace and strength to bear the anguish of their loss. Remove all resentment from their hearts, knowing that eternal peace and rest will abide their departed loved ones forever.

This we beg Thy name forever and ever, Amen.

A Message from the Chief

On behalf of the men and women of the Texarkana Police Department, I want to welcome you to our website. This page is but one of the many ways we have taken to help assure that we are effectively connecting with the citizens we serve. To help make this effort a success, we will strive to make this site as useful and as interactive as we possibly can.

The Police Department always strives to improve service to the citizens and will be conscious of innovative policing programs which will allow us to better meet the needs of our community. Much has been made of the "new" community policing philosophy in recent years but the fact is that we never left that philosophy. We have always felt a part of the community.

For individuals considering a law enforcement career, the Texarkana Police Department offers an excellent pay and benefit package and has a strong commitment to training and development. As an added benefit, Texarkana is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.

We hope that you take the time to look over our web site and get to know more about our Department and our community. We have a great staff that would be happy to answer your questions or help you with a public safety concern.

Robert. H. Harrison
Chief of Police
